Actually floppy support was added in Generic #7 or so. Please check on http://www.mklinux.org/ for more information about upgrading kernels and information on each particular kernel pair. There were changes submitted by Gilbert before he left Apple that allowed the floppy support to start working. You can use your floppy in other words, as long as you have either R1 or DR3+Generic 7 or higher.
