Not to worry. According to the MKlinux FAQ-O-Matic's Supported machines list V0.3 at
(see link)
your Macintosh Performa 6115CD IS listed a machine for supporting MKlinux!:)
I just installed MK on my old 7100 powermac. Runs like a dream. Its running off an external hard drive with mac OS 8.1 on the internal drive. No conflicts between the two.
Actually I'm planning to use it as a server between my power book and NT box. That means using Samba and Netatalk. But that's going to take a while. First I got to get the grips of running a UNIX system instead of just using one. Its going to be great learning experience though....
I got my MKLinux distubtion off the MKLinux book which is avaiable on buy.com 's book section for $30
The full title is
MkLinux: Microkernel Linux for the Power MacIntosh with CDROM
Good luck.
: But I'm told that mklinux in the only flavor that will work on an old Performa 6115CD. Is that right?
: If so, what must I do to get going?
: The idea is to use the little Performa as a web server.
: I.ve been to so many linux related web sites and ftp sites, that I'm now totally confused.
: So I'm started over, and this seems like a good place.
