The problem is that you have too much RAM. Currently in Generic 8/9 the support is there for something like 256 but nothing higher. Please see http://www.mklinux.org/ for information regarding upgrading your kernels.

The way to fix it is to add the line "mach_options= -m90" (for 90MB) to your lilo.conf.
