: Trying to get MkLinux running on a PowerMac 6500/275 with a 603ev processor (64MB RAM); got the disk partitioned; edited the MkLinux lilo.conf to point to rootdev=/dev/hda6, which is correct according t pdisk.

: However, when I reboot after installing all packages, the system complains about "BAD SIGNATURE" and multiple occurrences of "5 partition is ZERO sized (20001)" followed by "Error: Bootstrap task cannot find configuration file, please make sure that your boot device is correctly specified".

: It seems it always complains about the partition number one less (5) than where my Apple_UNIX_SVR2 partition exists (6) and I never reach the login prompt (sigh).

: Read about a so-called "Zip trick", but cannot make much of it, unfortunately.

: Any ideas, anything?

: Thanks,
: Jens

Finally able to figure out the Zip trick (after months of aggravation, a couple of intermediate downloads, and sheer ignorant persistence that this MUST work somehow and "I am going to make it work because I do NOT want to HAVE to to buy a PC to run Linux").

If you have had the same problem I'll be happy to try and explain what eventually got me through, e-mail me.

Jens
